Destiny 2 PS5 update brings a second trophy stack

By Luke Albigés,
Eyes up, Guardians... it looks like we'll be getting some free trophies when the PS5 update for Destiny 2 rolls out today. We've just pulled in brand new lists for both the base game and the Forsaken expansion, for a total of 24 trophies. Any you've already unlocked on PS4 should pop again when you first load into orbit in the PS5 version, which is available for download now.

Today's update is a big one for Destiny 2, and PS5 players can look forward to a slew of improvements. The updated version cranks up both resolution and frame rate to deliver 4K60 visuals on the new console, and there's even the option to boost frame rate even further via an optional 120hz mode for Crucible multiplayer matches. We're getting a field of vision slider to further improve the experience too, and even quicker load times are also promised.

Looking further into Destiny's future, assistant game director Joe Blackburn laid out the team's long-term plans in a post on today. In it, he addresses the sorry state of Beyond Light's launch loot pool and mentions a bunch of changes and new content coming to the game in Season 13 and beyond — six new ritual weapons and three Nightfall-exclusive weapons (returning favourites from the original game, including popular Hand Cannon, The Palindrome), two 'new' Strikes (Fallen S.A.B.E.R. and Devil’s Lair, again from the original game), new Lost Sector challenges and Exotic rewards, and DDOS protection are all coming next season, with a full transmog system coming later in Season 14. Further down the line, Destiny's original Raid, Vault of Glass, will be added at some point in 2021, and cross-play is finally due to be implemented sometime next year as well.

In case you need a refresher, here's the shiny new Destiny 2 trophy list. Spoilers: it's a lot like the old one. Bungie updated several requirements with the release of Beyond Light, so trophies once tied to vaulted content can thankfully still be unlocked.
