Hitman 3 will support PlayStation VR and the PS5's DualSense controller

By Sean Carey,
Hitman 3 launches next month, and developer IO Interactive has given us a new gameplay trailer and has revealed that Agent 47's next outing will support the DualSense controller and the PlayStation VR headset.

In Hitman 3 players can once again choose how to approach an assassination. Method of entry, disguises, distractions, and ways to kill are all up to the player. In the trailer, we see Agent 47 using a feather duster to dispatch a butler and throwing a bag of flour and what looks to be a sausage at an unsuspecting guard. We aren't sure how effective sausages are as weapons but they could prove an amusing distraction.

IOI says that Hitman 3 will support the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller, making use of the pad's adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. "All of the guns in the game will support adaptive triggers, and you’ll feel an authentic sensation with each shot you fire. Automatic weapons also simulate recoil with every bullet, and we’re implementing unique haptic feedback for each weapon that is tied to the distinct sound profile of each weapon.

"One specific (and really cool!) example of our adaptive trigger support is how you activate the Focus effect that slows down the world around you with a sniper rifle. When you gently squeeze the R2 button, your finger will reach a tension point that will resist your pressure, and you’ll need to hold your finger against that tension point to activate the focus."

Hitman 3 will also support PlayStation VR natively on PS4 or via backwards compatibility on PS5 and will be available to all players at no additional cost.

For those that own Hitman and Hitman 2, you can import locations from both games into Hitman 3. These locations will all be upgraded on the PS5 with next-gen enhancements. IOI says that these previous locales can also be played in VR.

Hitman 3 and comes to PS4 and PS5 on January 20th, 2021.
