Meet the Mysterious Wraith of Middle-earth: SoM

By Marc_Pilkington,
Creepy and mysterious figures abound in the world of gaming, and Middle earth Shadow of Mordor is no different. The game's protagonist, Talion, is bound to a wraith who was previously an unknown entity, that is until now. Courtesy of San-Diego Comic-Con, Celebrimbor, the greatest Elven Smith of the Second Age, has been revealed.

This powerful Elf has a lot of history. With his superior smithing abilities, he helped Sauron himself to create the Rings of Power but, alas, his skills came to nothing. Sauron betrayed the Elf and eventually murdered Celebrimbor and his family in a way that mirrors the death of Talion and his own family. This connection unites the two characters to pursue and eradicate the Dark Lord. As the maker of the Rings, Celebrimbor's power is very closely tied to them, and because Sauron is yet to acquire the One Ring, the Elf has the chance to become powerful enough to challenge him in Mordor. As Elven spirits are immortal, Celebrimbor chose to remain in Middle-earth instead of returning to the Undying Lands and so his bond with Talion is not technically a forced one.

A story trailer showcasing Celebrimbor and his quest has been released, aptly naming him the "Bright Lord."

Due to how eager fans are to explore Middle-earth as Talion, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have decided to bring the release date forward to October 3rd instead of the original October 7th date. The game will be available on both Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.
