Guerrilla Games shares a new Horizon Forbidden West behind the scenes video

By Heidi Nicholas,
A new video from Guerrilla Games takes us for a brief look behind the scenes of Horizon Forbidden West with an actor spotlight on Ashly Burch.

The video is just a minute long, but we get some interesting shots of the motion capture work going on behind the scenes, as well as Ashly Burch interacting with other characters as Aloy. Burch discusses her interpretation of the role, saying, "it feels really amazing to be reprising this role. Aloy is such a rich and interesting character and now she has to step into this new role with different stakes, a new threat, and given everything she's learned as she develops as a character is really exciting." Burch continues, joking, "Aloy is obviously taller, and buffer, and stronger than I am, but I do feel like I know her very well now, and it's fun now to get to play with her in new and different contexts and see what her edges are."

It's a short video, but it must admittedly be hard for Guerrilla to share anything longer without giving away too much information about the game, especially since Forbidden West is still a way off — according to one PlayStation ad, Horizon Forbidden West is expected to launch in the second half of 2021. Since it's still quite a way in the distance, we don't yet know too much about the game, although occasional info drops from Guerrilla introduced us to some of the new machines, like the Bristlebacks, Tremor-Tusks, Sunwings, and Shellsnappers.

Either way, it's good to get even a glimpse of the upcoming sequel to one of PlayStation's most beloved exclusives, and to see Ashly Burch reprise her role as Aloy. What are you looking forward to in Horizon Forbidden West? Let us know in the comments!

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
