PS5 players are turning off the trophy video feature to save space

By Brittany Vincent,
It isn't surprising that the PlayStation 5 fills up very quickly when you download all the games you're interested in playing.

As stated in our review, the console's free space diminishes in the blink of an eye, especially since you can't use external hard drives to store and launch PS5 titles just yet. With that in mind, GamesRadar reports that some users are finding creative ways to conserve as much space as possible.

One such method is deleting the trophy videos that are saved on the console that pop up after earning a trophy. A Reddit user on the official PlayStation 5 subreddit lined out how they had discovered 500 megabytes alone had been spent on storing said trophy videos on their system after they completed pack-in game Astro's Playroom.

The amount of space utilized for all of the trophy videos can continue to grow larger and larger until it begins to be a problem. The solution? Disable the feature and don't save videos for every trophy you unlock, especially if you're not saving them for archival purposes. You can turn it back on anytime, just as the Eagle-eyed Redditor indicated they would likely do if there are eventually additional storage options available.

Right now, space isn't so much at a premium that you can't rearrange your games thoughtfully enough so that there isn't enough room for everything. But the way things are going, it's going to reach that point very quickly. Having some sort of recourse to conserve even a little bit of space will be useful for anyone who picks up a PS5 going forward, at least early on.
