Ghost of Tsushima has already sold over five million copies since July

By Heidi Nicholas,
Ghost of Tsushima is by far one of the best games we've had on the PS4. It was a huge success with players and critics alike, and it seems to have done well for Sony too, having sold over five million copies in the four months since launch.

Ghost of Tsushima

This came from Seth Schiesel's article in the New York Times. Schiesel stated that Ghost of Tsushima had sold over five million copies since July, and later confirmed that this figure came directly from Sony.

Ghost of Tsushima's single-player story is a wonderfully beautiful epic set in a gorgeous version of the isle of Tsushima itself, but the game has also benefitted since from the introduction of a multiplayer component with Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. This multiplayer offered two-player story missions and four-player survival missions, followed up with the Tale of Iyo Raid. Sony shared stats for the first ten days of Ghost of Tsushima and Legends alike, showing the level of player engagement: for instance, that players managed to take part in 57 million duels and spend over 800 years on horseback in the first ten days of Ghost of Tsushima, and played almost 12 million Legends mode missions and defeated 1.3 billion enemies in the first ten days of Legends. From these most recent sales figures, meanwhile, Ghost of Tsushima seems to have continued to perform well for Sony.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
