Horizon Forbidden West expected to launch in second half of 2021 according to new PS5 ad

By Heidi Nicholas,
A new ad for the PS5 has narrowed down the launch windows for a number of games, including Horizon Forbidden West, which is "anticipated" for the second half of 2021, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is expected sooner, in the first half of next year.

It's a brief advert of just one minute, with the same narration as the PS5 global launch advert, except this time it shows a heavy focus on the PS5's exclusives. All the key info is in those few lines of text at the bottom of the screen, which confirms Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon's Souls as launching alongside the PS5 on November 12th, 2020, while also giving us the first idea of a launch window for some of the most anticipated upcoming PS5 games.

To be clear, these release windows are still just "anticipated," and with all the difficulties to be faced with the current global situation, these might change. As it stands, however, Sony apparently expects to see Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal all launching in the first half of 2021, while Horizon Forbidden West follows up in the second half of 2021. We've heard far more about Ratchet & Clank than Forbidden West, which is arguably the biggest upcoming PS5 game, so it makes sense that Sony might be saving it for the end of next year. Either way, it's good to have an idea — however tentative — of when we might expect to see these games. While we wait to hear more, why not check out everything we know about Ratchet and Clank — including the new playable female Lombax — and the little bit we know about the new machines coming with Horizon Forbidden West.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
