Epic Games has detailed what improvements we can expect from Fortnite on the PlayStation 5.

Available from November 12th, the next-gen version of Fortnite will let players experience the battle royale game in 4K resolution running at a buttery-smooth 60fps. Visuals and physics have been improved, which makes for a more "dynamic and interactive world," says Epic. Grass and trees will respond to explosions, and enhanced fluid simulations make for better-looking smoke and liquid effects along with new Storm and cloud effects. The console's next-gen SSD allows for significantly faster loading times and improved texture loading. Split Screen mode will also support 60fps.

Thanks to the PS5 DualSense's hardware, haptic feedback will improve immersion with Epic Games saying it will "feel like you’re holding the Suppressed SMG or Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle." Haptic trigger feedback has also been integrated for ranged weapons with the new controller.

Fortnite will support PS5 Activities. From the PS5 Home Screen, you'll be able to jump "straight into the Battle Royale Lobby with either Solo, Duos, or Squads selected. Once in the Lobby, you'll be able to queue up for your selected mode.

Epic Games says that players won't need to worry about their progression or cosmetics as they'll transfer across to new consoles. You'll also still be able to play with friends thanks to crossplay. To access your cosmetics and pick up from where you left off, you'll need to download Fortnite on the PS5 from the PlayStation Store and log in with your Epic or PlayStation Network account.

Epic Games is offering all Fornite players a free Throwback Axe Pickaxe. From November 4th, this Pickaxe skin will be available to download up until January 15th, 2021.

Fortnite launches for PlayStation 5 on November 12th or November 19th depending on your region.
