New Sackboy: A Big Adventure trailer shows what the "knitted knight" will be up to on PS5

By Heidi Nicholas,
A new story trailer for Sackboy: A Big Adventure is here, showing off PS5 footage and gameplay, and giving a glimpse into the Knitted Knight's quest to defeat Vex.

The first part of the trailer is taken up with gorgeous shots of the game world, before Sackboy takes a stance centre-stage and starts showing off for the camera, but once he's done we see gameplay footage of levels set in jungles, oceans, and even outer space.

Ned Waterhouse, design director for developers Sumo Digital, gave more of a description in a previous post over on the PlayStation Blog. Vex, a creature "born of chaos and fear," is forcing Sackboy's friends to build a Topsy Turver, which he will then use to "transform Craftworld from a fantastical land of pure imagination and innocent dreams... into a torrid, barren eyesore of nightmares." Luckily, a handy prophecy of the Knitted Knights tells of one who can save the day.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a 3D platformer to be played either alone or with multiplayer. Jim Ryan, president & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, explained in a different PlayStation Blog post that along with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West, Sackboy: A Big Adventure was "designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features." A few of these are listed on the site, such as fast loading and haptic feedback, which means that moving across "wool-like flooring" will use haptics to "simulate the change in material under Sackboy." Sackboy will also launch for PS4. Ryan clarified that "the PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive."

Sackboy launches on November 12th for PS4, and on November 12th/19th for PS5 depending on your region.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
