PS3, PSP, and PS Vita games reportedly being removed from web and mobile PS Store

By Sean Carey,
According to a new report, Sony will be launching a new PlayStation Store on web and mobile which removes the ability to purchase PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and PSP content.

PS Store changes

The report from Push Square says that Sony has informed developers about the new web and mobile storefront. All legacy content including PS3, PS Vita, and PSP games will no longer be available to purchase through web and mobile storefronts. PS4 apps, themes, and avatars will also no longer be purchasable.

Although PS3 and PS Vita content will no longer be accessible via the PS Store on web and mobile, the report does state that Sony is not shutting down these storefronts. You'll still be able to access and buy content from each console's native PS Store app.

Any content you've already purchased on these platforms should not be affected and will remain in your library to download again. Owned PS4 themes, avatars, and apps will all still be accessible on the console.

The reported changes are likely down to the launch of the PlayStation 5. Sony has been making changes in other areas too, including trophies. Trophy levels have recently undergone a significant overhaul, which increases the trophy level cap to 999.
