PS5 cat adventure game Stray involves making friends with a little robot

Arguably the standout star of the PS5 Future of Gaming event, Stray is a third-person cat adventure game in which your cat protagonist will make friends with a little flying robot.

There's some new story details on the game's site, although they're still a little vague. The basic premise is that you'll be solving an "ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city." Stray has its own slightly Cyberpunk-feel: it's "set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly... inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures." There is a slightly eerie tone to Stray, even alongside all the cuteness. Even as the cat trots along the streets in the teaser trailer above, slogans like "RIP humans" and "no escape" are visible in the background.

Along your journey, you'll make friends with a little flying drone, B12, who will help you in your escape attempt. The cat itself will still do all the important cat-like things: you will "be stealthy, nimble, silly, and sometimes as annoying as possible with the strange inhabitants of this foreign world." Perhaps most importantly of all, the cat also has a little backpack.

Stray launches sometime in 2021. Developer Bluetwelve hasn't yet revealed too much about this game, but we'll be sure to keep you updated when we learn more, about the cat, the drone, and that tiny little backpack.
