PlayStation 5 Showcase: here is every announcement from the event

Sony's PlayStation 5 Showcase was a big one. We finally got prices for both the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition, launch dates for both consoles, updates on games we already knew about, and a few surprise announcements too. The show only ran for about 40 minutes, but it was packed full of news. Here is a round-up of everything that happened last night if you missed it.

PS5 price and launch date reveal

PS5 pre-order

The biggest news of the night was, of course, the price and launch date reveals for Sony's next-gen console. The PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition will launch on November 12th for the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The rest of the world has to wait a week until November 19th to get their hands on a console. The PS5 is priced at $499/£449/€499, with the PS5 Digital Edition costing $399/£359/€399. Preorders are live now.

Final Fantasy XIV


Sony opened the showcase with a big surprise and announced Final Fantasy XVI with a cinematic trailer. The next instalment into the Final Fantasy franchise will be a PS5 console exclusive, with more information coming in 2021.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales


Insomniac finally revealed some gameplay for Spider-Man: Miles Morales that looks visually impressive running on the PS5. The trailer gives us an extended look at a battle raging on a bridge, with some of Miles' new combat abilities shown off. Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch alongside the PS5 console and is also coming to PS4.

Hogwarts Legacy


The long-rumoured Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy was then announced by Warner Bros. Games. Players will step into the shoes of a Hogwarts student from the 1800s and carve out their own story in this single-player open-world RPG. Hogwarts Legacy is coming to PS5 and PS4 in 2021.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War


Treyarch showcased a campaign mission for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War running on the PS5. Woods and co are seen stealthily infiltrating an enemy airfield in search of a high-value target before things go wrong and everything gets a bit loud. Black Ops Cold War is coming to PS5 and PS4 on November 13th.

Resident Evil: Village


Capcom gave us another look at Resident Evil 8: Village with a new creepy story-book trailer. We see more of the village players will explore and some of its horrifying inhabitants. Resident Evil Village launches in 2021 for PS5.

Deathloop


Deathloop was initially supposed to be a PS5 launch title but was recently delayed into Q2 2021. The new gameplay trailer showcases some of the character's new abilities. Deathloop is a timed-exclusive to PS5.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition


Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will be a PS5 launch title this November. Thanks to the power of the PS5, the game can target 4k 30fps with ray tracing enabled. Vergil is a new playable character, and there's a new turbo mode that lets you play the game at 1.2x the normal speed.

Oddworld: Soulstorm


Abe is back with Oddworld: Soulstorm. New gameplay for Abe's next outing was shown. We see the Mudokon trying to escape Rupture Farms with other factory workers in tow. Oddworld: Soulstorm is coming to both PS5 and PS4 in 2020.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach


Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is a new entry into the FNAF series that takes place in Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizza Plex — a three-story building filled with the latest animatronic technology. Five Nights at Freddy's Security Breach will be available on PS5 and PS4, but no launch date was given.

Demon's Souls


The Demon's Souls remake is looking fantastic in this extended gameplay trailer. Around four minutes of gameplay footage was shown that showcases some of the locations in the game and a boss battle. Demon's Souls is a PS5 launch title.

Fortnite


A trailer for Fortnite running on Unreal Engine 4 shows us how the battle royale looks running on PS5. Fortnite will be available for PS5 at launch.

PlayStation Plus Collection


Sony announced the PlayStation Plus Collection — a new benefit for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The collection gives subscribers access to a library of PS4 games at no additional cost.

God of War: Ragnarok


To close out the show, Sony announced God of War: Ragnarok — a sequel to 2018's God of War. Nothing was shown other than a brief teaser trailer that proclaimed, "Ragnarok is coming."
