Gamescom Opening Night Live PS4 and PS5 news round-up

Gamescom Opening Night Live was chock-full of exciting gaming news. We had plenty of updates on already announced games and even a sprinkling of new game announcements for a variety of platforms. If you didn't catch the show, don't worry. We've rounded up all of the PlayStation news into one handy article.

Dirt 5


Dirt 5's latest trailer details Playgrounds Mode — a new feature coming to the game that allows you to make your own stunt park and publish them online. For more, check out our hands-on preview with Playgrounds Mode over on TrueAchievements.

Quantum Error


Developer Team Kill dropped a new teaser trailer for its space horror game, Quantum Error. It looks somewhat similar to Dead Space but from a first-person perspective. Quantum Error is in development for both PS4 and PS5.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War


Activision treated us to a new cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The trailer features a full CGI Ronald Reagan and shows the return of Woods, Hudson and Mason. The dev team says that Black Ops Cold War will have multiple endings.

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead


Which one of you asked for a Bridge Constructor/Walking Dead crossover? Developer Clockstone has only gone and made it! Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead is a physics-based puzzle game that's coming to both PS4 and PS5 later this year.

Scarlett Nexus


Bandai Namco dropped a new trailer for Scarlet Nexus showcasing more of the action RPG's fast-paced gameplay. Scarlett Nexus is coming to both PS4 and PS5. No launch date has been announced.

Unknown 9: Awakening


Unknown 9: Awakening is a new game coming to PS5. We were only shown a brief teaser trailer, but the game is about a woman who lives on the streets of India who can see visions of her own death. No release date was given.

Star Wars: Squadrons


Single-player campaign gameplay showing an early Imperial mission for Star Wars: Squadrons was shown next. The space combat game comes to PS4 on October 2nd, 2020.

Doom Eternal


Bethesda gave us our first look at the upcoming Doom Eternal DLC, The Ancient Gods, Part One. The expansion launches on October 20th, 2020.

Dragon Age


BioWare shared a brief update on how Dragon Age is shaping up and shared some concept art among other tidbits.

Fall Guys


Mediatonic gave everyone a sneak peek at what's to come in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Season 2. We can expect some new medieval-themed rounds and costumes when the first season finished in October.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground


Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is a new Warhammer turn-based strategy game coming to PS4 in 2021.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light


Destiny 2's new trailer details the new Statis powers and sub-classes coming to the game with the Beyond Light expansion.

Little Nightmares 2


Little Nightmares 2 finally got a gameplay trailer and release date. The dark and atmospheric platformer is making coming to PS4 on February 11th, 2021. Those who purchase a PS4 copy will also get the PS5 version for free when it launches.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds


WWE 2K Battlegrounds latest trailer shows us a bit more of that wacky wrestling action and details some of the roster. WWE 2K Battlegrounds launches on PS4 on September 18th.

The Sims 4


Star Wars is heading to the vibrant world of The Sims 4 with a new DLC. The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu expansion pack allows players to live out their wildest Star Wars dreams. The DLC launches on September 8th.

Override 2: Super Mech League


Override 2: Super Mech League is all about duking it out with supersized mechs, and it's coming to both PS4 and PS5 this December.

Mafia: Definitive Edition


Mafia: Definitive Edition is looking fantastic in this new trailer. The remake launches on September 25th for PS4.

Lemnis Gate


Lemnis Gate has a unique concept. It's an FPS turn-based strategy game, but you're stuck in a 25-second time loop. It's coming to PS4 early next year.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga


Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been delayed into Q1 2021, but we did get a new gameplay trailer complete with some of that Lego game humour to make up for it.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars


Based on the Games Workshop tabletop game, Necromunda: Underhive Wars is a tactical RPG coming to PS4 on September 9th.

Chorus


Chorus is a space combat shooter that's coming to both the PS4 and PS5 in 2021.

Spellbreak


Spellbreak is a new free-to-play fantasy title coming to PS4 on September 3rd. The new trailer doesn't give away too much, but it does give us a few brief snippets of gameplay.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart


Gamescom Opening Night Live closed out on the PS5 exclusive, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Several minutes of gameplay was shown, and it looks phenomenal. Insomniac also revealed that Ratchet and Clank's next outing will be available during the PS5's "launch window."
