Marvel's Avengers' updated PS4 cover suggests Spider-Man will arrive in 2021

An updated cover for Marvel's Avengers points to the PS4 exclusivity for Spider-Man, and suggests the post-launch character will arrive in 2021.

It caused a considerable stir when PlayStation and Crystal Dynamics revealed that Spider-Man would be coming to Marvel's Avengers, but only for PS4 players. However, it seems his arrival is still some way off: this updated cover, spotted on Amazon Australia, (thanks, VGC) includes a new image on the front which showcases the PS4-exclusive character, and in some minuscule text underneath, says he'll appear sometime in 2021.

Crystal Dynamics hasn't officially confirmed when Spidey will be added to the game. The devs have otherwise been very communicative about their plans for post-launch content, and from the developers' most recent War Table streams, we know that the first post-launch hero to arrive will be Hawkeye. Although we don't know Spider-Man's arrival date for sure, we at least have some idea of what to expect when it happens. When PlayStation and Crystal Dynamics confirmed the news, the devs said Spider-Man would have a special in-game event, with unique challenges and tests to his abilities.
