Crystal Dynamics says the beta will start at around 9pm in your time zone, and will end at around the same time on Sunday, August 9th. The most recent War Table stream detailed what to expect in the beta: it'll be a real mix of content, starting with the Golden Bridge sequence, which itself offers 25 minutes of gameplay. From there, you'll get a look at the heroes, combat, traversal, special combos and heroics, before heading into a Taskmaster boss battle. Afterwards, you'll start up some hero missions, including one with Hulk. You can then choose from Iron Man, Kamala, Black Widow and Hulk for four player co-op in War Zones and Drop Zones, as well as trying out HARM rooms (virtual training simulators with waves of enemies.)

The pre-order beta runs from the 7th to the 9th of August, with an open beta running from August 14th to August 16th, and another open beta later in August, from the 21st to the 23rd. These dates differ for Xbox players, who won't get the pre-order beta until the 14th. PlayStation players are getting other platform exclusive benefits, such as Spider-Man as an exclusive character, as well as new cosmetics and additional perks.

The pre-order beta starts later tonight, and is available to pre-load now. If you're wanting to play this weekend's beta, there's still time to pre-order the game before it starts.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
