Over 1.5 million players have already jumped into Fall Guys in the first 24 hours

Everybody seems to be loving the jelly-bean characters of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout; so much so that the game passed 1.5 million players in the first 24 hours.

The game launched on PS4 and Steam just yesterday, August 4th, and is included with August's PS Plus games, along with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. Taking a trip through the hilarious Fall Guys Twitter account will show just how quickly the game surpassed its expected number of players: it quickly became the no. 1 Global Top Seller on Steam, with the servers being "beefed up" to handle the 120 thousand players already hurling jelly beans around the game. Shortly after, the game "skyrocketed past [its] 'absolute highest number of expected players for the entire day'", with matchmaking being switched off for half an hour to help the servers cope. The team tried to "secretly bring the servers back online" but were quickly overwhelmed with 100,000 players, causing account creation to be temporarily disabled for the PS4.

The server issues caused the game to be review-bombed on Steam: this was quickly turned around when players then "positive-bombed" the review score back up. Servers were still struggling as the player count increased even as the team tried to "scale everything up", and matchmaking was switched off for two hours. Even so, over 140,000 players tried to play the game during this two hour period. The latest updates suggest the game is starting to cope with the player count. "I can only assume that the servers... made it through the night?" reads one recent message, followed by the message above: "when we say Fall Guys is experiencing a lot of traffic... we had over 1.5 million players in the first 24 hours!"
