Far Cry 6 officially revealed with a February 2021 launch date during Ubisoft Forward

Far Cry 6 was officially revealed during Ubisoft Forward. The game will launch for PS4 and PS5 on February 18th 2021, with a free next-gen upgrade to those who bought it for the PS4.

The game had been leaked ahead of Ubisoft Forward, but the digital showcase gave us the first proper look at what's to come in the next Far Cry instalment. It will be set in Yara, a "tropical paradise" which Ubisoft's Chris Watters says is made up of "serene Caribbean waters, pristine beaches, and rich tropical forests of Yara... from the rural farmlands to the streets of Esperanza, the franchise’s first urban environment to date." Giancarlo Esposito, best known for his magnificent portrayal of Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, plays the game's main antagonist: dictator Anton Castillo.

Castillo is "intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means", and is training his son Diego to carry on his work. Yara is suffering under Castillo's regime, and you'll play as Dani Rojas, "a local Yaran defending their country from a tyrant’s rule," utilising an "arsenal of unique and surprising new weapons, vehicles, and animal companions in a fight against an unyielding military regime."

Far Cry 6 launches on February 18th 2021. It's priced at $59.99/£59.99 for the Standard Edition. The Gold Edition, which comes with the Discos Locos weapon, a skin for Chorizo, and the Season Pass — which adds in three new DLCs and more — is priced at $99.99/£84.99. Lastly, the Ultimate Edition is available for $119.99/£99.99, and also includes the Discos Locos weapon, a skin for Chorizo, the Season Pass and its DLCs, as well as the Jungle Expedition Pack, the Croc Hunter Pack, and the Vice Pack.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
