Dirt 5 has an option for 120 frames per second on the PS5

Dirt 5 was officially unveiled during the Xbox Series X third-party gameplay showcase back in May. Plenty of details were released about the game's performance on Microsoft's console. Now Codemasters has confirmed some of the specs for its upcoming racing game on the PS5.

Dirt 5 PS5 120 fps

Dirt 5 on the Xbox Series X will be able to run at 120 frames per second, making the off-road racing experience look and feel buttery smooth. It's now been confirmed that the PS5 version of Dirt 5 will also be able to hit the 120 frames per second mark.

In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine, Dirt 5's development director Rob Karp said, "The power of the PS5 also means that we will have an option for 120fps, which is very exciting for the racers who know that every frame counts." Karp's comment reveals that there will likely be two different modes to play the game in — one that favours resolution and the other favouring frame rates and performance.

Karp also talked up the DualSense controller saying it "offers something new and unique", and that it fits well for racing games.

Dirt 5 launches on PS4 on October 9th, with a PS5 version coming at a later date.

We recently spoke to Dirt 5's developer about how an achievement/trophy list is created.
