Three PS Plus games revealed for July; a free PS4 theme to follow later this week

July's PS Plus lineup has now been revealed: NBA 2K20 and Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration head the lineup, but there's also a third free bonus game, Erica, as part of PlayStation's celebration of ten years of PS Plus. There will also be a free PS4 theme releasing later this week to celebrate the PS Plus service's ten year anniversary.

All three games will be available to play from July 7th until August 3rd. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is a third person shooter with an estimated completion time of around 40-50 hours. The PS Plus announcement reads that "In Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara uncovers an ancient mystery that places her in the crosshairs of a ruthless organization known as Trinity. As she races to find a powerful and sought-after artifact before Trinity, the trail leads to a myth about the Lost City of Kitezh. Lara knows she must reach the Lost City and its hidden secrets before Trinity as she sets out for Siberia on a thrilling expedition."

NBA 2K20, meanwhile, "evolved into much more than a basketball simulation. With its immersive open-world Neighborhood, NBA 2K20 is a platform for gamers and ballers to come together and create what’s next in basketball culture." Lastly. Erica is a visual novel game. It shouldn't take too long to complete — our site estimates a completion time of between eight to ten hours. The description reads: "This feature-length cinematic experience merges high-fidelity Hollywood production values with engaging, tactile gameplay. Become Erica, a brave young lady plagued with nightmares of your father’s murder. With the traumatic events that have haunted you as a child dragged back into the light of the present-day vis grisly new clues, it’s up to you to unearth the shocking truth behind this devastating tragedy. Every choice you make influences how the game develops, with multiple endings awaiting you at the finale of the emotional branching narrative."

The free PS4 theme will release alter this week for a limited time, although PlayStation doesn't specify when. There will also be a free online multiplayer weekend for the "online multiplayer benefit for PS Plus", running from July 4th until July 5th. All three of July's PS Plus games will be available from July 7th until August 3rd.
