Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart features a new playable female character

By Sean Carey,
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was announced during last week's Future of Gaming PS5 event. At the end of the announcement trailer, we were introduced to a new character. As it turns out, the female Lombax is playable.

Developer Insomniac Games confirmed in a tweet that players would be able to play as not only Ratchet in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, but also "a mysterious new female Lombax from another dimension". Unfortunately, outside of the confirmation, not much else is know about the character.

Rift Apart has been built from the ground up for the PS5 and makes full use of the PS5's SSD and DualSense controller. According to a PlayStation Blog post, "Players will seamlessly travel through different dimensions in mid-gameplay, thanks to PS5's ultra-high-speed SSD." The DualSense controller will bring combat to life with the use of adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

No release date was given for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. We expect to hear more about the game in the coming months.
