Gran Turismo 7 has been officially announced during PS5 gameplay event

Gran Turismo 7 has now been announced, and it's coming to PS5. It's been a long time since Gran Turismo Sport and even longer since Gran Turismo 6, but the next instalment of the Gran Turismo series has now been revealed as part of Sony's PS5 games showcase.

No release date was announced for the racing title, but we did get a chunky gameplay trailer, which you can watch above.

In the three years since Gran Turismo Sport, rumours about the next instalment in the series have abounded. These rumours were most recently fuelled by Sony Interactive Entertainment having renewed trademarks for the Gran Turismo name and logo, and for developers Polyphony Digital, in Argentina on the same day as the PS5 event was originally planned for (thanks, Push Square).

Sony has now quashed rumours with an official announcement for the next Gran Turismo game. Sony has previously said there'll be more PS5 updates in the future, so we can hope to hear more about the game in those or from the developers themselves.
