New Last of Us: Part II teaser revealed, full trailer to follow tomorrow

The Last of Us Part II has had a hard time of it recently. The game was delayed back in April, and following the announcement of a new 19th June release date, it's been plagued by leaks of major plot spoilers. Creative director Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog both took to Twitter to express their disappointment about the leaks, and followed this up today with the announcement that the game's gone gold. To consolidate the good news, Naughty Dog has released a new teaser, which promises a full trailer for tomorrow, May 6th, at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST.

The recent leaks about the game caused outrage. Sony has since claimed to have identified the hackers, and stated that they're not identified with Naughty Dog or Sony, but that they were unable to "comment further because the information is subject to an on-going investigation". Players who have been waiting for the game for years were just as disappointed as its creators at the spoilers, but Druckmann's comments, when announcing that the game had gone gold, show he's still just as enthusiastic about the game's impact for fans. "No matter what you've seen, or heard, or read, nothing compares to playing this thing from beginning to end," Druckmann said, adding that it's "the most ambitious game we've ever made".

The teaser doesn't give too much away aside from the date and time of tomorrow's trailer. Ellie and Joel can be heard briefly: Ellie saying "I have to finish it," and Joel replying, "there's a cost". The teaser may be very brief, but it's a promising sign for fans, and gives something else to focus on about the game rather than the spoilers. Plus, the fact that Naughty Dog are confident enough to release a new trailer so close to major plot leaks seems to reinforce their comment that "no matter what you see and hear, the final experience will be worth it", especially since this trailer could contain a lot of new information, aside from that already leaked.

The new trailer for The Last of Us Part II will be released tomorrow, May 6th, at 7am PT. We'll be sure to update you when it does.
