Sony cancels The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR digital pre-orders due to delays

By Sean Carey,
Sony has cancelled digital pre-orders for both The Last of Us Part II and Marvel's Iron Man VR according to a PlayStation Support page. Those who have pre-ordered either of the two titles will receive an automatic refund. An email has been sent out to customers informing them of the move.

The Last of Us Part II and Marvel's Iron Man VR were both due to launch in May. Naughty Dog's sequel was scheduled for release on the 29th, while Iron Man was supposed to come to the PSVR on May 15th. Sony Interactive Entertainment delayed both titles late last week because of the current global pandemic caused by COVID-19. According to Sony, the situation has impacted the company in its ability to launch both games.

Now both games have had their store listings removed from the PlayStation Store. No new dates have been given for when these titles will now launch. Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog said that The Last of Us Part II is almost finished and that the developer is exploring different ways on how to ship the game in a way that's fair.

As soon as we hear more on the release dates of either of these two games, we'll update you.
