DOOM Eternal's launch trailer promises demon-slaying chaos

By Heidi Nicholas,
Doom Eternal is now only days away from release, and the arrival of its launch trailer is perfectly timed to heighten anticipation still further.

"There is only one dominant life form in this universe, and it carries a steel-barreled sword of vengeance." The game's set eight months after the events of Doom 2016, and players will be the Doom Slayer, enacting vengeance across Hell, Earth, and Phobos, the Martian moon. The game is double the size of Doom 2016, with twice as many enemies, and new weapons to take them down with.

Speaking to PCGamesN, id Software Studio Director Marty Stratton said, "It’s epic; it’s the best thing we’ve ever created at the studio. Our levels are bigger than they’ve ever been, we’ve done double the amount of demons, so from beginning to end you’re gonna see and experience things that are always new. I refer to this as the game version of a page-turner book."

Doom Eternal will release next week, on March 20th.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
