Mortal Kombat 11 is free to play this weekend

By Heidi Nicholas,
If you've been going back and forth over whether to buy Mortal Kombat 11, good news: it's currently free to play, giving players a chance to try out every combatant released into the game so far, including the recently-added Joker. The free trial will end on March 9th.

Joker was only added to the game earlier this year. It's not entirely clear how this character will be free to play, since he's part of the Kombat Pack DLC, but from PlayStation's announcement, it certainly seems as though he should be available to all players. Usually, the Joker would cost £4.99/$5.99 individually, or could be purchased as part of the Kombat pack, which also includes Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Terminator T-800, and Sindel.

If the free trial convinces you to get not only the full game but also the Kombat Pack, it'd be a good time to invest in both; the main game is at a discount of £38.49 instead of £54.99, and the Kombat Pack DLC is at a discount of £23.09 instead of £32.99. Plus, you'd be just in time for Spawn, who's arriving as part of the pack later this month.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
