Space Channel 5 returns on PlayStation VR later this month

By Heidi Nicholas,
Space Channel 5 is returning later this month as (takes breath) Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash! It's only coming to PlayStation VR, and will release on February 25th in the US and February 26th in Europe for $39.99. Ulala, now a top reporter for Space Channel 5, has to out-dance an alien race in order to save the Earth (and increase her viewer rating).

It's the 25th century and an alien race known as the Morolians have been forcing people to dance against their will. Because this is Space Channel 5 and everything is solved by dance, you'll be defeating them by out-dancing them. The story mode has players dancing alongside Ulala as a rookie reporter. According to the game's PlayStation page, there'll also be an introductory Arcade mode aimed at VR beginners, and an "exercise and endurance" mode, Trial Dance, with 100 dances in a row; players will also be able to track all the calories burnt throughout their gameplay. Character biographies will be shown in the Friendopedia, and players can watch the story again through different camera angels and a third person perspective in the viewing mode. Ulala will also have a dressing room to change her outfits as you unlock more.

Space Channel 5 is a dance, musical and action game for one player. It's priced at $39.99 and, whilst there's currently only a release date for PSVR, the game will be coming to Steam VR, Oculus Quest, and Viveport soon.

(Thanks, Polygon)

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
