GTA V was the most downloaded game from the PS Store in January

By Sean Carey,
PlayStation has revealed the most downloaded games on the PS Store in January for both the US and European regions. Surprisingly, GTA V, a game that was released seven years ago is top in both areas, with other notables such as The Witcher 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare also making an appearance.

GTA Online: Gunrunning screens

Looking at the US region first, GTA V, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and recent release Dragon Ball Z: Karakot make up the top three. The Witcher 3, follows behind in fourth, presumably down to the buzz created by the new Netflix series followed by Star Wars Battlefront II which recently had its BB-8 update that added two more heroes and a bunch of new content.

  2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  3. DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT

  6. Madden NFL 20
  7. Minecraft
  8. EA SPORTS UFC 3
  9. STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order
  10. PAYDAY 2: CRIMEWAVE EDITION
In Europe, for the second month in a row, GTA V tops the chart, followed by The Witcher 3 and FIFA 20. Presumably, the reason for GTA V's success in both of these charts is down to its live service element, Grand Theft Auto Online which consistently sees significant updates such as the recent Diamond Casino Heist update led to December being the largest month ever in terms of player numbers for the game. It's likely this has spilled over into January.
