Bioshock: the Collection heads the PS Plus lineup for February

By Heidi Nicholas,
PlayStation are serving up a great month of games with their announcement of February's PlayStation Plus lineup. Usually it's two games each month for the service, but with the three included in Bioshock: the Collection, and The Sims 4, that's four games; with Firewall Zero Hour adding in a fifth game for those with PSVR. The announcements for each month's PS Plus games are occasionally met with disappointment, but as the release of both Sony and Microsoft's next-generation consoles draws near, it seems that each company are stepping it up. We constantly hear how Microsoft are preparing to improve upon their Xbox Game Pass subscription, and it seems Sony are aiming for some crowd-pleasers with the iconic Bioshock games and the Sims 4. All of the above titles will be available from February 4th to March 2nd.

Bioshock: the Collection

The Bioshock games are iconic. Bioshock: the Collection features all three games in the Bioshock series; Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite, as well as all of the single-player add-on content for the games. There's a nostalgic insistence amongst Bioshock fans that nothing beats the first game, but all three are highly rated by our TrueTrophies community, with Bioshock being rated as 4.58/5, Bioshock 2 as 4.20/5, and Bioshock Infinite as 4.36/5. They're dystopian sci-fi first person shooter games, set in the underwater city of Rapture and the airborne Columbia. Since the entire collection usually costs £44.99/$59.99, this is a pretty solid addition.

The Sims 4

The Sims 4 is the most recent entry in the popular franchise, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this February. It came out onto PlayStation a few years ago in 2017, with constant DLC packs and content updates coming along. The premise is the same as usual — you can take control of the Sims and do, basically, whatever you'd like. You control every aspect of their lives; from designing their homes and personality to their friendships and relationships, their goals, and their hobbies. It's as immersive as you'd like it to be; create a family and control its descendants through the generations; make your Sims as happy as can be, or start feuds, throw drinks, and spend hours ruining people's lives (just in The Sims, obviously).

Firewall Zero Hour

Firewall Zero Hour is a PSVR title and a 4v4 tactical shooter. You work as one of a team of contractors whose job it is to go after valuable data hidden around the world, or to protect it from others. You have an anonymous contract handler who remains hidden behind the scenes, and provides information and objectives for you to complete. The game places an emphasis on teamwork to succeed.

That's the February lineup for PS Plus. All titles will be available from February 4th to March 2nd, meaning you've got just under a week left with the January PS Plus games. So, if you haven't had your fill of being a violent goat (Goat Simulator) or a treasure hunter in Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, don't forget to pick them up before they go.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
