Shenmue III's First DLC arrives on PS4 January 21

Shenmue III's first DLC, "Battle Rally" is coming to PS4 next week. The DLC gives players the chance to step into the shoes of a protagonist other than Ryo Hazuki.

Battley Rally offers up some new gaming activities "In a race unlike any other, as contestants engage in head-to-head battles whilst racing their way through the course." For the first time, you'll be able to step into the shoes of another protagonist. You'll be able to play as either the treasure-seeking Wuying Ren or the newly introduced Wei Zhen, who is Ryo's sparring partner.

Unfortunately, that's all we know about the upcoming Shenmue III DLC — Koch Media's press release was very light on the details. Hopefully, these races will be multiplayer, and we don't know if any more trophies will be added either. If we hear any more information on the DLC, we will be sure to let you know. Battle Rally is the first of several DLC releases including three story expansions that are currently being worked on. Game director, Yu Suzuki has teased that two of the DLC's will be action-orientated and have a narrative focus. The last story expansion will deal with gambling dens.

Battle Rally will set you back $7.99/£6.49 when it releases on PS4 on January 21. If you already own the Complete DLC Collection, you'll get Battle Rally on the day it launches.
