PlayStation Plus Games for January Announced

By Heidi Nicholas,
PlayStation have announced the first PlayStation Plus games for January; the first games to arrive to the service in 2020. Both Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator will join the service next week. It's a bit of a random combination, popping an action-adventure game about a treasure hunter with a game about a violent goat whose only wish is to destroy everything in sight. Both titles will be available from 7th January until 3rd February.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

This collection includes just the single-player campaigns for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. There's quite a lot of content included here, and the collection spans Nathan Drake's various expeditions. In the first, Drake's Fortune, he's hunting for the treasure of El Dorado, after finding a clue in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake, explorer. Among Thieves is about the hunt for the Cintamani Stone, after Drake finds a wrecked ship which once belonged to Marco Polo. Drake's Deception is about the search for the Atlantis of the Sands, and is set across the Arabian Peninsula. These are all third person shooter action-adventure games, and are generally well-received; the Nathan Drake collection currently has a Metascore of 86 on Metacritic.

Goat Simulator

This one doesn't pretend to take itself anywhere near as seriously. It's just what it says it is: a goat simulator, where you can live out your dreams of being a goat. However, this goat's obsession with violence sets it apart from other members of its species. In this open-world game, you get points for destroying anything and everything — usually by hurling a goat at it — and even more points if you do it well. Perhaps this addition to PS Plus is PlayStation's answer to Untitled Goose Game being added to Xbox Game Pass. Granted, the goose is a little more concerned with inconveniencing people than destroying them, but either way, there are now more opportunities than ever to be an unreasonably violent animal.

Both titles are available from next week, 7th January, until 3rd February.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
