UPDATE: Director Neil Druckmann confirms that The Last of Us Part 2 has been delayed, and will now release on May 29th, 2020. "I know" says Druckmann. "It was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality. At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team." Druckmann goes on to apologise to fans and say that this time ensures The Last of Us Part 2 will be the "highest level of quality".
The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima are two of the PS4's most anticipated titles. Sucker Punch have been pretty quiet on news about Ghost of Tsushima, but it was only recently that a release date trailer was dropped for The Last of Us Part II, giving the game's launch date as February 21st of next year. Yet according to Kotaku, both games have been delayed. Kotaku's article says that Sony haven't offiicially annouced it yet, but that sources have told them that The Last of Us 2 is delayed until spring of next year. Meanwhile, the article's author and Kotaku's News Editor, Jason Schreier, tweeted that Ghost of Tsushima has also been pushed back as a result.
Schreier reports that Ghost of Tsushima will apparently still be released next year, and that fans shouldn't worry about it becoming a PS5 game, but that it has just been "bumped later into 2020" due to the delay. Ghost of Tsushima still doesn't have a specific release date, and it's been a while since there's been any confirmed information about it. But from Kotaku's report, it sounds as though we could perhaps at least hope to see it late next year. We'll update you as soon as Sony confirm or deny anything about these two titles.
