A photo of what is believed to be the devkit for the PlayStation 5 has appeared online. The V-shaped console matches the drawings uncovered in a patent a few months ago.
The image was released in a video on the YouTube channel Zone of Tech and it looks identical to the console in the patent. Several identifying features have been blacked out (probably serial numbers) but we can see the words "Prototype" and "Not for sale" printed on the devkit. There is also an optical drive which — as confirmed by Sony — supports 4K Blu-ray.
Although we can't really gain much information from the image, (as it's highly unlikely that the PS5 will look anything like this) it's interesting to see what the PS5 devkit actually looks like, in all of its strange V-shaped glory.
The PlayStation 5 launches between October and December 2020.
