MediEvil Developer Wants to "Deliver the Game People Remember Playing"

By Sean Carey, 8 days ago
In a recent Developer Diary, Other Ocean Interactive the team behind the remake of the cult classic MediEvil, gave Playstation Europe a behind the scenes look at how the remake is coming along.

In the video, Chief Creative Officer Mike Mika said, "You go back to the original game, and you don't want to deliver an exact replica of that game, you want to deliver the game that people remember playing. Instead of going back and recreating [MediEvil] perfectly, we want to recreate what you remember and what you took away from the game."

The developers are also working off the code from the original MediEvil game and are in touch with the team that created the PlayStation classic. Mika said, "Its almost like an archaeological project, you're digging up all this material, you're talking to the original team, you're trying to find out exactly what they were thinking and feeling at the time, and you use that to springboard the new direction you want to take the game, the presentation, the feel and the mechanics."

MediEvil is coming to PlayStation 4 on October 25th — just in time for Sir Daniel Fortesque to make an appearance for Halloween! Until then, we will keep you up to date with any more MediEvil news as we get it.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the MediEvil trophies.
