More Information on Next Yakuza Game to be Revealed on July 10th

By Rebecca Smith,
The next instalment in the Ryu ga Gotoku series, known as Yakuza in the west, will soon be arriving on the PlayStation 4. Right now, we know very little about the game apart from its protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, who previously starred in Yakuza Online on mobile and PC. He'll appear in the new title with an unknown female partner, a part for which SEGA held open auditions back in March. The identity of that partner looks set to be revealed next month, as series producer Daisuke Sato confirmed we'll be getting more news on July 10th.

New Yakuza

The producer spoke to Gamebase during a launch event for Yakuza 5 on PS4, confirming the team would reveal the identity of the supporting actress on that date. They'll also be sharing "the latest information", although Sato refused to be drawn on whether that involves the inclusion of Kazuma Kiryu, the franchise's previous protagonist, in the game.

The title is currently due to release before the end of March 2020, although that's likely to be in Japan. If the game does come to the west, it will almost definitely release later.
