Shenmue 3 Has Been Delayed... Again

By Sam Quirke,
You've waited for Shenmue III for 18 years. Surely you can wait a little longer? That's what Yu Suzuki is betting on, as the game has been pushed back to the end of the year to make final "refinements".

Shenmue III Delayed

As stated in the latest Kickstarter update, Yu Suzuki claims the game is "almost ready" but that the extra development time will allow the team to deliver the "true Shenmue experience" players deserve.

While previously slated for a August 27th 2019 release date, Shenmue III will now release on November 19th 2019, putting it directly in the path of Death Stranding which releases just over a week earlier.

Fans and backers on Kickstarter have generally been cordial about the delay. However there are some concerns about aiming for perfection — each delay has come with a message that the game needs more tweaks to be absolutely perfect, meaning that long-time backers are now expecting something truly exceptional. Will Shenmue III be able to deliver? Let us know in the comments.
