PlayStation is offering a free God of War PS4 theme celebrating the game's first anniversary, featuring our favourite Dad and his Boi reflecting on their adventures in their trusty boat. But that boat hides some intriguing foreshadowing...

1st Anniversary Theme

If you grab the theme from the Store, load it up and look really closely at the near edge of the boat, you can see a bit of runic script. Unlike a lot of the runic writings in the game it's actually English, albeit slightly obscured — and it says "Ragnarok is Coming".

Without giving spoilers, this probably isn't surprising news for anyone who has a basic understanding of Norse mythology (and we mean basic — watching Marvel's Thor movies would do it). Nor will it surprise anyone who has played through the first game and the implications therein. However, it's nice to see Santa Monica starting to playfully tease at the future of the franchise, especially with Cory Barlog confirming once and for all that the current game will not have any DLC.

What do you think of this ominous message, and what it means for Kratos and Atreus? Let us know in the comments!
