3dRudder Motion Controller Revealed for PlayStation VR

By Rebecca Smith,
A lot of PlayStation VR games use the PlayStation Move motion controllers too, but as anybody who has used them will attest, navigation through the game while using them can sometimes be a bit of a pain. These problems hope to be solved with the introduction of a new foot controller, the 3dRudder, due to arrive in a few weeks' time.

The device plugs into the PlayStation 4 console through USB and can be used alongside PlayStation Move, the Aim controller, and the Dualshock 4. Players place their feet on top of the circular platform and tilt them in the direction they wish to move. The platform tilts thanks to a rounded bottom half, and the device's Inertial Measurement Unit and pressure sensors interpret those motions into the game. The more the player tilts the device in their chosen direction, the faster their character will move. This means players can walk, sprint, or stop immediately. It also frees up players' arms so they can move and perform actions at the same time.

When it is launched, 25 games will support the controller with more promised in the future:
The 3dRudder will be released on June 17th and will cost £119/€119. Players can pre-order the controller from here.
