Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Moves to New PS4 Servers

By Rebecca Smith,
The Dragon Ball games have quite a cult following, and it seems like that following has outgrown the server for one of the games on PlayStation 4. On March 20th, the server for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Conton City will be migrated to a new location, but while this means more space will be created for game updates, it will result in the loss of some player data for those that choose to migrate.

The old server will not be closed down for now. On March 20th, players will get the option to choose between remaining on the old server, which will be called Original Conton City, and migrating to the new server dubbed New Conton City. The old server will still give players access to Crystal Raid, Online Matching, Parallel Quests, and Expert Missions, but there will not be any more updates or online events after March 20th. As stated by publisher Bandai Namco, "there is no date announced for the termination of the ‘Original’ Conton City".

Players who wish to move to the game's new server will just have to select "New Conton City" when the server becomes available. Bandai Namco recommends you keep a copy of your Favorite List so you can find players again on the new server. They also recommend you visit Time Service and collect all of your presents before you move. Favorite List is not the only data that will be lost in the migration, though, as the following list will also be lost:

  • Unlimited Rank Match Point
  • Results of the Tenkaichi Tournament
  • Online Event Rankings
  • Present History
  • Presents remaining in the Time Service
  • Online Titles
  • Favorite List History
  • Players Met History
To compensate players for their lost data, those who log onto the new server between 07:00 CET on March 20th and 23:59 CET on April 20th will receive 500 TP Medals. Developer Dimps will also be bringing back previous events to give players a chance to earn their Online Titles once again. Of course, it also gives players a chance to take part in those events if they haven't done so before. More details on these events has been promised for later.
