Sony Told OVERKILL's The Walking Dead is Cancelled

By Rebecca Smith,
Last month, Starbreeze delayed the console release of OVERKILL's The Walking Dead again... this time indefinitely. Well, it seems like "indefinitely" has turned into "cancelled". Sony has started e-mailing all players who pre-ordered the game on PlayStation 4 and has begun issuing refunds, because the publisher has told them that the game has been cancelled. The e-mail, posted by redditor u/PirateBlankFoul, is below:

Cancellation e-mail

Sony's e-mail is reinforced by Starbreeze's Q4 and full year 2018 financial reports, in which they state the game generated SEK 34.1 million last year. Acting CEO Mikael Nermark stated that this "did not meet our financial expectations". The publisher is instead focusing their efforts on the more lucrative PAYDAY franchise, which remains their "most popular brand".

Neither OVERKILL nor Starbreeze has stated officially that the game has been cancelled. We've reached out for a statement and will update the article if we hear anything more.
