The inciting incident of the PlayStation cross-play fiasco has finally been resolved in Fortnite. Players can now merge two Epic accounts to use all of their cosmetics and accumulate their V-Bucks, regardless of platform.
Epic have made a new site page that allows players to select the two accounts they have used so far in Fortnite. Players should select whichever account they want to continue using to play as their "Primary" account, and then they will have the opportunity to transfer their cosmetics and V-Bucks.
Players must have used an Xbox or Switch account and a PlayStation account before September 28th 2018 for this tool to work. The transfer process can take up to two weeks, and it's worth noting that your Battle Royale XP progress will not be transferred from your primary to your secondary account. (If you made progress in Save the World, you can transfer that XP).
It's a pretty inelegant solution to an awkward problem, but at least some sort of progress has been made.
