During a recent earnings call to report on its Q3 2019 financial results, EA has revealed that new titles from the Need for Speed and Plants vs. Zombies series' are in development and due to ship in the next fiscal year (before March 31st 2020).
The news was announced by COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen (thanks to Seeking Alpha for the transcript):
Looking ahead to FY20, we have a large slate of new games, beginning with some big new additions in our next FIFA title. There was great energy and engagement from NFL fans throughout this past season, we're excited for our plans with the Madden NFL franchise. We will continue innovating and driving our NHL and NBA LIVE games deeper into the fabric of their respective sports. We'll have a new game for our Need for Speed fans, and a new title in our PvZ shooter franchise on console and PC.The Plants vs. Zombies Twitter account also got on in the act, revealing yesterday that they will be sharing more details in the future.
It's been almost three years since Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 released on the Xbox One, and nearly 18 months since Need for Speed Payback launched to underwhelming reviews. What direction are you hoping to see from both of these series' when they are properly revealed?
