DC Universe Online Event Will Advance Characters for Free

By Rebecca Smith,
DC Universe Online (PS4) has been around a while on PlayStation 4. However, it has been around a lot longer on PC, just recently hitting its eighth anniversary on that platform. In celebration of that fact, players on all platforms can benefit from the ongoing Attack of the Anti-Monitor anniversary event that offers gifts for all players.

Attack of the Anti-Monitor

As shown in the image above, all players will receive a free CR210 Character Advance. This advance allows players to automatically increase a character's level to level 30, whether this is an existing character or a brand new character. Players could unlock up to three trophies depending on the character build they choose, one for reaching level 10 and gaining a certain role, one for reaching level 30 with a certain mode, and the other for reaching level 30 as a character mentored by a designated hero.

The Character Advance also includes "the new House of El 2019 gear suit, an Artifact Starter Pack, an Exobyte Cache to get your Augments up to date, Episode 30: Earth 3, about 85 skill points, and a grab bag of consumables". Once unlocked, the gear suit can be applied to other characters as well in the Style Menu. To earn the Character Advance, players need to log in to the game before January 31st. Only one free advance is offered per account, but more can be purchased at the Character Creation or Character Select screens.

Attack of the Anti-Monitor

In addition to the Character Advance, Members will receive a Member Appreciation Gift box that includes the Member Gift Artifact Cache. Players will be able to choose one of the game's 14 artifacts, as well as getting "a ton of Nth Metal, Marks of Victory, and the all-new BRAINIAC LAIR THEME!" that features the large room from the Atlantean Lair, the ambience of a Brainiac Harvester Ship, and new appearances for Amenities, Armories, and Back-Up/Henchmen. To get this gift, Members must also log in before January 31st and only one gift box will be applied to each account.

Attack of the Anti-Monitor

The event also brings back Open Episodes, meaning that all players can play through all of the game's episodes up until Episode 32. This does, of course, exclude the game's most recent episode, "Episode 33: Atlantis", but allows players to get caught up with the storyline up until that point. Open episodes will also be available until January 31st.

Finally, the event introduces the "Centennial Collapse raid, A World Past Hope and Fear solo, and a ton of new feats, styles, and rewards". To access the new content, players will find the "Monitoring the Situation" mission in the Mission Journal, and "Centennial Collapse" in the On Duty menu. There's also the Metropolis Anti-Matter option in the Warp Menu. The styles include:

  • Unlock a new style-only gear set inspired by Future Joker.
  • Look for the "Clown Prince" styles on the vendor for Qwardian Crowns.
  • Discover two new collections for a title and new Antimatter Aura.
  • Find new apocalyptic base items
If you hadn't guessed by now, the Attack of the Anti-Monitor Anniversary Event will be running until January 31st. Make sure you claim your free gifts before then.
