Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood PS4 Bundle Confirmed

By Sam Quirke,
As we suspected from recent ratings board posts, a re-release bundle of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood is headed exclusively to PlayStation 4. It's called Castlevania Requiem and it's out just in time for Halloween. Here's an incredibly short announcement trailer.

The rumoured release was confirmed this morning on PlayStation Blog. At the moment it looks like the release is digital only. Rondo of Blood is widely considered to be one of the best action games of its era, but is less well known because it was originally only released in Japan back in 1993. Symphony of the Night on the other hand is the kind of game that crops up near the top of "Best Game of All Time" lists regularly, a benchmark of action-RPG and level design and often the first game that people think of when considering the "-vania" half of the "Metroidvania" genre.

The PlayStation 4 editions will preserve the original look and feel of the games, but will include 4K/1080p upscaling with multiple hi-res backgrounds filling out the sides of your screen. There will be rendering options such as smoothing available too, and Requiem will make use of the analogue stick, vibration and speaker on the DualShock 4. Trophy support is confirmed, though the Blog warns that the "Platinum will be tough to get". While we shouldn't read too much into it, the fact that it's "Platinum" singular rather than plural suggests that this might be one combined list unlike other recent bundles such as the Bioshock Collection.

The Castlevania Requiem release date is October 26th. The Blog states that you can pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store now, however that doesn't appear to be true just yet. We'll update this story when the pre-order page appears.

We've got the full list of Castlevania Requiem trophies - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
