PlayStation Classic Console with 20 Preloaded Games Announced

By Sam Quirke,
Sony are clearly keen to take on Nintendo in the miniature console market. The company just revealed the PlayStation Classic, a scaled down version of the original PlayStation that will have 20 pre-loaded games and two controllers.

The console is 45% smaller than the original console and buyers will get an HDMI cable and USB charging cable in the box (but no AC adaptor). The original disc button will be used to select which game you want to load up — all 20 will be available in their "original format".

The full list of 20 games has not yet been revealed — we may see some regional differences as seen with the various local versions of the NES and SNES Mini. The games Sony were willing to reveal at this stage, for all regions, are as follows:

  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Jumping Flash
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Tekken 3
  • Wild Arms
The PlayStation Classic is already available to pre-order at GameStop in the US and GAME in the UK for $99.99/£89.99 respectively. The console launches on December 3rd.

It's unlikely to be linked to PSN or any trophies, but... you never know...
