New Game Plus is the new black when it comes to triple-A gaming fashion. Spider-Man is the latest action-adventure title that's going to get a post-launch option to restart the game with your unlocks intact, according to Insomniac Games' reply to a fan on Twitter:

It's certainly a handy developer shortcut for technically doubling a game's content. It's certainly a handy developer shortcut for technically doubling a game's content.

Spider-Man joins several other high-profile releases to get a New Game Plus this year. The feature was added to God of War a few months ago, and the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider will have that option from launch (once you've completed the game, of course).

We don't have any details on the nature of Spidey's version of the feature, but typically a New Game Plus will allow players to restart the game with their unlocks intact from a previous play through. To balance the advantage to the player, enemies are normally scaled up in toughness in New Game Plus.

We'll report back when more details are known, but for now Spider-Man's New Game Plus remains a mysterious Twitter note with no release date.
