Life Is Strange 2 Introduces a Pair of Runaway Brothers

By Sam Quirke,
DONTNOD and Square Enix have finally unveiled Life Is Strange 2 at this year's Gamescom event. Fans of the series were treated to two videos — the first being the game's official reveal trailer after the tiny teaser we received at the beginning of the month. It's not too spoiler heavy but it certainly infers quite a bit of the game's themes and early narrative.

The gameplay teaser certainly goes one step further and isn't recommended for anyone who wants to play the first episode with nothing spoiled. It's nearly 20 minutes from the game's opening episode "Seattle", introducing us to the two brothers who will form the central relationship of the story. Gameplay wise we can expect very similar mechanics to the first game, albeit without the time-travel mechanic. There are plenty of binary choices to be made when dealing with events or speaking to characters, with unforeseen consequences. The sequence ends with a dramatic and violent event that kick starts the brothers' odyssey across the USA — as well as revealing a mysterious new superpower.

More details have been promised in the coming weeks, but one further element that has been confirmed is the return of Jonathan Morali as composer.

Life is Strange 2's first episode, "Seattle", will launch on September 27th on PlayStation 4. You can pre-order the complete season already for £32.99 / US $39.99 / CAD $49.99 / €39.99 or your local equivalent. Pre-orders will grant players access to several cosmetic patches for your in-game backpack.

We've got the full list of Life Is Strange 2 trophies - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
