Torchlight Frontiers Shifts the Series to a Shared World

By Sam Quirke,
The Torchlight series is heading in a brand new direction for its next instalment, under the stewardship of a new studio since Runic Games vanished several months ago.

Torchlight Frontiers features a shared persistent world that is dynamically generated. Otherwise, players will find familiar ARPG elements from the first two titles. On top of that, the series is returning to consoles including a first-ever release on PlayStation.

The game retains a similar feel, likely because Runic founder Max Schaefer is back on board in a brand new studio at Perfect World. Additional details about Frontiers should surface at Gamescom and PAX West this year.

Torchlight Frontiers does not have a release date but should be heading to PlayStation 4 in the future.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Torchlight Frontiers trophies.
