It’s been a while since we last heard news about Lords of the Fallen 2. The sequel to 2014’s Lords of the Fallen was always set to feature a new developer since the original team moved on to The Surge. Who that would be has been uncertain for a while with the game on hiatus, but no more.
Publisher CI Games has confirmed that Defiant Games, a studio founded by the studio head for Just Cause 3, will take over development. Defiant Games has this to say:
We have been talking with CI Games for several months now, and went through a detailed process of getting to know one another’s expectations and motivations in regards to Lords of the Fallen 2. We are happy that we can commit our studio to developing a great game in a well-established franchise. Our team has been excited about the chance to make the next LotF from the moment we started to work on our pitch for CI. We are particularly thrilled about the creative freedom that CI Games is willing to offer.
Perhaps we’ll learn more at E3, but it’s likely we might be waiting a while to hear more.
