In Dreams You Can Create Anything, Including Music

By Rebecca Smith,
When Dreams was revealed at E3 three years ago, there was some confusion as to what it actually was. The answer is that it's an engine that allows players to create their own games and experiences. You can create games, stories, showcases, dreams, characters, animations, vehicles, sound effects, and many different kinds of music. The latest development stream focuses on the last item in that list and shows players how to create music in the title.

The game allows people with all levels of musical experience to create something. Players choose from a library of instruments before they record a performance in a live environment. The performance is then expanded into a timeline view for players to tinker with. Effects and filters can then be applied to create as unique sound. You'll also be able to create your own sounds using the microphone on the PlayStation camera, or by importing them through the accompanying web app. Take a look at music creation in detail in the latest hour-long stream from Media Molecule.

Dreams still does not have a release date, but the developer has promised that there will be a beta happening later this year.
