No Man's Sky (PS4) had a rocky launch on PC and PS4, but Hello Games has been working diligently to sort out the game's issues with a series of updates and content drops. Gamers have even more reason to be excited now as Sean Murray has confirmed No Man's Sky's upcoming "Next" update will include multiplayer.
Details are still sparse about multiplayer, but Murray says the company has been "playtesting multiplayer for the last six months, and the game has evolved into a very new experience that we think the community will enjoy." Murray's basic description of what players can do is a bit reminiscent of Dark Souls' multiplayer where players can either help or hurt each others' experience.
You’ll be able to explore the universe with your friends, or bump into random travelers. You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive.
But there is a lot more besides:
Tiny shelters or complex colonies that you build as a team are shared for all players. Fight as a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and enemies. Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, creating race tracks and trails to share online.
No Man's Sky will launch on Xbox One on July 24th, complete with the "Next" update. Although not confirmed, it's probably safe to assume that PS4 players will receive the update on the same day.
